Annoying Store Bought Laundry Soap January 20, 2010 Reviewer: Melvin Leppla from Jacksonville, NC United States   I have been using the Fels Naptha recipe for laundry and my wife who still uses the store bought laundry soap washed some of my clothes for me, and I could smell the perfumed washed clothes even before they left the dryer. The T-shirts just felt different, they didn't have that clean non-scented smell, when taken out of the dryer. I didn't realize how much of the store bought laundry soap remained in the clothes even after a double rinsing. But by using using Fels Naptha and now the lye soap recipe for laundry I am able to see, smell, and feel the difference. I will never use store bought laundry soap again, its just a box of chemicals that we don't need to wash our clothes. Lye soap, washing soda, and Borax is all a person needs, not chemicals that we cannot even pronounce. Was this review helpful to you?

What a great laundry soap recipe! September 12, 2007 Reviewer: Mediterranean Maven from CORAL GABLES, FL United States   I have long been a fan of the Fels Naptha soap laundry detergent recipe (the powder recipe on this website) and enjoy being able to make my laundry detergent easily and economically.  Here is another fantastic option using 16 oz of powdered lye soap in place of Fels Naptha, mixed with 1 1/2 cups of borax and 1 1/2 cups of washing soda.  Only 2 TBS are needed and the result is laundry that is clean, soft and fresh-smelling.  There is no artificial, perfume-laden scent here so this is great for allergy sufferers.  I was able to use this fantastic concoction on towels, bed linens, lingerie and even my husband's grimey golf clothes with great success.  Everything came out clean, soft, fresh-smelling and there is no need for fabric softener!  If you haven't tried this powdered recipe, do so and you'll never look back!  Highly recommended!
