Known chronic health effects related to exposure to a specific ingredient are indicated. ACUTE HEALTH EFFECTS: INHALATION: Dust may cause mild irritation of the mucous membranes. SKIN CONTACT: May cause irritation with drying, redness, and cracking due to the defatting action on the skin. Dermatitis may result from repeated or prolonged contact. EYE CONTACT: May cause irritation. INGESTION: Ingestion may cause irritation of the throat and gastrointestinal tract, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Aspiration into the lungs could possibly occur causing chemical pneumonitis and pulmonary edema. CHRONIC HEALTH EFFECTS: None known. MEDICAL CONDITIONS GENERALLY RECOGNIZED AS BEING AGGRAVATED BY EXPOSURE: Pre-existing skin conditions. EMERGENCY AND FIRST AID PROCEDURES INHALATION: Immediately remove from exposure area to fresh air. Keep affected person warm and at rest. Treat symptomatically and supportively. Contact physician or local poison control center. If breathing has stopped, give artificial respiration, and get medical attention immediately. SKIN CONTACT: Rinse affected area with plenty of water until no evidence of product remains. Get medical attention if irritation persists. EYE CONTACT: Immediately rinse eyes with plenty of water, occasionally lifting upper and lower lids, until no evidence of product remains. Get medical attention if pain or irritation persist. INGESTION: Immediately get medical attention. DO NOT induce vomiting. Treat symptomatically and supportively. Maintain airway and respiration. If vomiting occurs, keep head below hips to prevent aspiration. Dilution by rinsing the mouth and giving water or milk to drink is generally recommended. If unconscious, the victim should not be given anything to drink. REACTIVITY REACTIVITY - Stable under normal temperatures and pressures. INCOMPATIBILITIES: Strong oxidizers, acids, bases, chlorine. DECOMPOSITION - Thermal decomposition may release toxic and/or hazardous gases. POLYMERIZATION - Hazardous polymerization has not been reported to occur under normal temperatures and pressures. STORAGE AND DISPOSAL MSDS L-101 (Rev. 6 Page 3 of 4 Store away from incompatible substances. Observe all federal, state and local regulations when storing or disposing of this substance. CONDITIONS TO AVOID May burn but does not ignite readily. Avoid contact with incompatible substances and excessive heat. SPILL AND LEAK PROCEDURES OCCUPATIONAL SPILL - Sweep up and place in suitable clean, dry containers for reclamation or later disposal. Do not flush spilled material into sewer. Keep unnecessary people away. OCCUPATIONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT VENTILATION - Provide local exhaust ventilation to meet permissible exposure limits where generation of dust is likely to occur. RESPIRATOR - Air contamination monitoring should be carried out where generation of dust is likely to occur to assure that the employees are not exposed to harmful concentrations exceeding permissible exposure limits. If respiratory protection is required, it must be based on the contamination levels found in the workplace, must not exceed the working limits of the respirator and be jointly approved by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health and the Mine Safety and Health Administration (NIOSH-MSHA). FOR FIRE FIGHTING AND OTHER IMMEDIATELY DANGEROUS TO LIFE OR HEALTH CONDITIONS - Any self-contained breathing apparatus that has a full facepiece and is operated in a pressure-demand or other positivepressure mode. Any supplied-air respirator that has a full facepiece and is operated in a pressure-demand or other positive-pressure mode in combination with an auxiliary self-contained breathing apparatus operated in pressuredemand or other positive-pressure mode. CLOTHING - Protective clothing is required where repeated or prolonged skin contact may occur. GLOVES - Chemical-resistant gloves are required where repeated or prolonged skin contact may occur. The Best Window Cleaner April 25, 2011 Reviewer: Anonymous person from Saint Louis, MO United States   My mother tought me this one - place a bar in a plastic container with a lid - add water about 1/2 way up the bar.  The surface will soften  to a paste.  using a cloth or green scrubie spread a THIN film of paste on the window and allow to dry to a white haze.  Wipe off with crumpled up news paper.  Windows stay cleaner longer, repel rain water and are easier to clean the next time. Fels Naptha Ingredients March 11, 2011 Reviewer: Anonymous person from Sanford, FL United States   Does NOT contain Benzenes NOR have I found any pertoleum distillates in Fels Naptha Fels Naptha laundry detergent bar is a mixture of sodium tallowate, sodium palmate and sodium cocoate or sodium palmate kernelate. These ingredients are the standard soap base with sodium palmate and sodium palmate kernelate coming from palm oil. Sodium tallowate is the salt of tallow an animal fat and sodium cocoate is a cleansing agent found mostly in soaps. Read more at livestrong.com Was this review helpful to you?

A Must Have for EVERY Laundry Room February 12, 2011 Reviewer: Janette Tobin from Florissant, MO United States   1st & most important, contrary to the comment posted Fels Naptha does NOT contain benzene! Please read the ingredients.  Ok, after that, it is a wondeful laundry pretreater. I keep a bar in the baby room to wet, rub, & throw in the laundry bin. I keep a bar in the laundry room to wet in the washing machine as it fills up & rub all stains. It is AMAZING what it gets out. I also make homemade powdered detergent with it & it gets my clothes cleaner than Tide. Worth EVERY penny & SAFE. Was this review helpful to you?

buyer beware pt1/pt 2 after the next product below January 2, 2011 Reviewer: SAT MD JD from Silver Spring, MD United States   Fels Naptha is an excellent stain remover and grease fighter. It should be.It is made with Benzene, a cancer- causing chemical added to the original formula  in 1893 by the Fels family.They added naptha  or benzene to the soap to improve its grease-cutting properties.  Benzene should never be allowed to come in contact with the skin and you should not wash babies, children, adults, animals or anyone with the chemical. Benzene is an organic chemical compound that is used to make napalm, explosives, and pesticides(no wonder it kills fleas, roaches, etc,), It causes leukemia by damaging the bone marrow that is responsible for making red blood cells. Help to prevent poison oak June 14, 2010 Reviewer: Eddie Studer from Elverta, CA United States   I haven't purchased this product from here YET. But I can say that is the past  have used it to wash with after I knew I had come in contact with poison oak. For whatever reason it does help prevent or shorten the duration of an outbreak.
